Dr Sihra has been working on fire related projects for the last 20 years. He has been leading a team of experts in developing, and commercialising a range of products in intumescent fire resistant technology for FPW.  There are a number of spin-offs of the new technology developed; and Dr Sihra is responsible for nurturing and training a team of experts in specialised techniques to develop these concepts into commercial technologies. These technologies are taken to the end client to finalise into bespoke products.

Dr Sihra has extensive in house testing, development, external large-scale testing. He has been heavily involved in the pilot scale trials of processes to formulation. These areas are crucial to the final development of the products; and the success of the commercialisation is dependent upon this know how.  Dr Sihra has successfully completed these stages and applied this knowledge for the 3 major projects undertaken for FPW.

Detalied understanding of the standards to be tested against and commercial requirements were necessary to meet the complete each project. A technology transfer program was also a prerequisite for one of the projects with a university attachment to the project, this required the delivery of a set of lecture programs and practical laboratory programs to post-graduate students.

He has project managed the last 2 major projects from a technical standpoint. This involved getting the correct equipment and utilities into the plant, as well as setting out the development program and meeting the deadlines for tests.

Toxicology and related issues are very important in fire technology.  Dr Sihra’s background in medicine, as well as his background in toxicology lends him ideal for ensuring corporate responsibility for ethical, environmental safety and compliance.
